I can't live draw very well, mostly because I rarely practice drawing.

However, many people do this very well. I think a whiteboard, or its electronic equivalent is the best tool, not powerpoint. With a whiteboard, you can erase and edit on the fly, customizing your diagram for the moment. With an animated powerpoint drawing, you're stuck with what you planned--potentially losing the chance to make it really engaging.

Adi, you are right. Insofar as you can direct a process and manage yourself, Rework definitely applies to employees.

Much of their advice with regards to shaping culture would be tough to implement, but maybe still worth thinking about.

That book is fantastic, completely changed the way I approach business decisions.
I don't think i would agree with your statemant that it doesn't apply to employees.

If you are in operations, (as I am on the Product management side of things in the software industry), there are lessons on how you run that process and make decisions..

Regardless, completely agree with your observation about the lessons of that book.

If you like this, i would recommend their previous book as well. Cna't remember the name of the book now, but you can find that on amazon, or download its pdf from 37signals site.

More specificity makes your mission more measurable. It's also a little scary because more specificity means you'll have to rule out doing some things because they are outside of your mission.

As a former debater in college, I agree with your thoughts here. After my sophmore year, I came to the realisation that the best debaters were simply antagonizers. They were the same types of people who would make great pundits on cable news. I focused full time on the forensics (speech) team after that and found that I made more friends, and generally was much happier with the results.
